NRTC Team

Tim Bryan
Chief Executive Officer

NRTC’s board chose Tim Bryan to lead the organization at an important phase in its history. He joins the organization at a time when it seeks to invest in, develop, and deploy new advanced telecommunications and Smart Grid businesses that will help NRTC members, their customers, and NRTC thrive. He has been NRTC CEO since August 1, 2011.

Prior to joining NRTC, Bryan was CEO of ICO Global, a company controlled by mobile phone industry pioneer Craig McCaw. ICO was an early investor in the currently hot topic of mobile/terrestrial wireless hybrid voice and data networks. Under Bryan’s leadership, ICO became a public company and signed contracts for the eventual construction and launch of ICO G1, one of the world’s largest communications satellites. The domestic portion of ICO Global was sold to Dish Networks for $1.4 billion earlier in 2011. Prior to joining ICO in November 2005, Bryan was chief financial officer for Eagle River, a holding company that included McCaw investments in Nextel Communications, Nextel Partners, XO Communications, ICO Global Communications, and Teledesic Communications. Tim served on the Boards of Directors of ICO and Nextel, and also served on the Board of Open TV, a Liberty Media affiliate.

Bryan has international telecommunications experience, having served as President of United Pan-Europe Communications during the late 1990s. UPC operated cable TV and telecommunications facilities throughout Europe, including the emerging Eastern European markets of Poland, Hungary, and the Czech and Slovak Republics. He also served as Chief Financial Officer for UPC’s parent company, United GlobalComm.

Earlier experience included finance and management positions for Jones Intercable, NationsBank Corp. and Mellon Bank.

Bryan is a 1983 graduate of Duke University, Durham, NC. He is married with two daughters and a son. He is a golfer and active in competitive amateur ice hockey as well as coaching youth hockey.

While serving as NRTC’s Interim CEO from June 2010 to August 2011, Jack Harvey worked closely with the NRTC Board to recruit a permanent CEO. He assumed the position of NRTC’s President when Tim Bryan was named CEO.

As President, Harvey provides leadership and strategic direction for key NRTC business divisions – Utility Solutions, Video Services and Internet Services. This includes forging, maintaining and enhancing business relationships and partnerships that strengthen those units.

Prior to his appointment as President, Harvey was Senior Vice President of Business Operations for NRTC and provided technical and operational leadership to NRTC’s product divisions. In addition, he oversaw NRTC’s Information Technology department.

Harvey has been integral to business development as well as operations at NRTC. Formerly, he directed a team focused on finding and developing opportunities for NRTC rural electric and telco members to deliver leading-edge telecommunication technologies to their respective communities.

Harvey joined NRTC in 1999 as vice president of Technical Support Services after 25 years of experience in the Regional Bell Operating Companies and AT&T. Among his earlier positions at AT&T, he served as general manager of the General Business Branch.

He serves on the board of directors of Telispire, a mobile virtual network operator, and Avail-TVN, the largest independent digital media services company in North America, and tenKsolar, a unique PV solar company offering creative solar solutions to meet emerging renewable requirements. Formerly, he served as chairman of the Telispire board of directors and on the board of Associated Network Partners, Inc.

Harvey earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marshall University and his Master of Public Administration from West Virginia University.

Terry Gilmore
VP, Finance and Strategic Planning

Terry Gilmore works every day with NRTC’s leaders on long-term and special projects, including planning for future distribution of existing products and new product development. Gilmore joined NRTC in April 1996 as manager of member accounting. In that position, he oversaw accounting for NRTC’s DBS service, including the establishment of call-in accounting customer service, member accounting training and automated accounting tools.
